Cheap car insurance for convicted drivers

convicted

Although there is no real justification for it many of us have made mistakes when behind the wheel of a car, whether they be minor ones such as a lapse of concentration, or more major “mistakes” such as being drunk. When it comes to getting car insurance after making one of these mistakes you will often find that the mainstream insurance companies will come down hard on you and either refuse to offer insurance or charge you an astronomical rate for the privilege. Whilst not condoning driving dangerously or whilst under the influence of alcohol, I do believe in second chances, and that is why I’m glad that there are some second tier insurers who won’t look so harshly upon previous convictions.

Insurance for convicted drivers
Apart from the big Four insurers who are very risk adverse, a lot of the other insurance companies out there are beginning to realize that single minor infringements such as speeding tickets don’t necessarily mean that the insured is more likely to make a claim, as such these companies are no longer increasing the premium or excess for such infringements. More major infringements, which cause a driver to be banned are still viewed in a negative light by the majority of insurance providers and as such generally require a specialized insurer to keep the cost low. One cheap option for those that won’t be driving their car much is one day car insurance which is cheap because you are only buying insurance for the period you need it for.

Cheap car insurance for drink drivers
Roughly 100,000 people in the United Kingdom are banned from driving every single year due to drink driving. Those convicted of drink driving are labeled by mainstream insurance companies as high-risk and as such will be either refused insurance, or the company will bump up the premiums to a outlandish levels, as they do not want your business. Getting competitive quotes for those convicted of serious crimes and motoring offences such as drink driving and other alcohol related motoring offences can be difficult if you don’t use a specialist broker. Convicted driver brokers have a panel of insurance companies that will accept convicted and drink drivers; they will take your information and then hunt through a list of companies that are willing to insure drink drivers at decent rates.
